Why a bare screenshot underperforms
A screenshot pasted straight into a post is the wrong shape and the wrong colour. X crops it to fit, the white background of the app disappears into the white of the timeline, and the thing you wanted people to read arrives as a grey smudge two hundred pixels tall.
Framing fixes all three at once. The background gives the picture an edge, so the eye knows where it starts. The fixed shape means X shows the whole thing instead of choosing a crop for you. And the padding buys the screenshot room to be read at the size a phone actually shows it.
Four shapes that X likes
Square, portrait 4:5, landscape 5:4 and a 9:16 story. Portrait takes the most room in a timeline, which is why most people should start there.
Backgrounds, not decoration
Eleven presets and your own colour. A gradient reads as deliberate; a drop shadow makes the screenshot sit on the background rather than in front of it.
PNG or JPG, your choice
PNG keeps type crisp, which is what a screenshot of words needs. JPG is far smaller when the picture is a photograph.

Is it really free?
Yes. No account, no email, no watermark and no limit on how many you make. It exists so that people find BigDealSocial by way of something useful, which only works if the useful part is free.
Do I need an account?
No. Upload, adjust, download, close the tab. An account gets you the full image editor, templates and everything else the product does — but nothing on this page is behind it.
What happens to my screenshot?
It is uploaded so the server can draw the framed version, and it is kept with the result so the tool can be supported and improved. It is never posted anywhere, shown to anyone, or used to train anything.
What size should an X post image be?
Portrait 4:5 (1080×1350) takes the most vertical room in a timeline, so it is the safest default. Square 1:1 is the most predictable across every app. Landscape 5:4 suits a wide screenshot, and 9:16 is for a story rather than a post.
PNG or JPG?
PNG for anything with text in it — a screenshot of a post is text, and PNG keeps every letter sharp. JPG when the picture is mostly photograph, where it will be several times smaller for no visible difference.
Will X crop my image?
Not if the shape is one it expects, which is why this tool only offers four. A screenshot at some arbitrary size is what gets cropped, and X chooses the crop, not you.
Can I use the images commercially?
Yes. What you make here is yours — for a post, an ad, a deck, anything. Make sure you have the right to the screenshot itself, which is between you and whoever wrote it.
Do I need a screenshot, or can I use a link?
Either. Paste a link like x.com/name/status/123 and the post is drawn as a card from its own data — avatar, name, text and numbers, at double density — which comes out sharper than a screenshot ever does. A screenshot works too, for posts from anywhere else.
Can I add text or my handle?
Yes. One caption above or below the picture, set in any of the 107 typefaces the full editor carries, with bold, italics, capitals and colour — plus a small handle stamp. For layered text, outlines and highlighter marks, that is what the image editor inside BigDealSocial is for.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. Upload from the camera roll, adjust, download. Everything is drawn on the server, so nothing depends on how fast the phone is.
